Acer Switch 3, Switch 5 2-in-1 Windows 10 Laptops With Pen Support Launched

Acer at its  event in New York on Thursday launched the new Aspire series and more Swift laptops, new Predator gaming laptops, new monitors, as well as a new wearable. The Taiwanese company at the event also expanded its Switch detachable laptop lineup. The company introduced the Switch 3 and Switch 5 – the latter is the more premium variant with a fingerprint sensor on board and Windows Hello support.

Starting with the Switch detachable, it’s available as the Switch 3 or Switch 5 with 12-inch and 15-inch screens, respectively. The Switch 3 packs in an adjustable kickstand, while the Switch 5 features a unique retractable kickstand. The Switch 5 also sports a fingerprint reader for some added security and both pack support for Acer’s Active Pen.Both the Switch 5 and Switch 3 have front and rear cameras for video conferencing and capturing memories, and the front webcams provide 720p full-HD video recording. Both models also support the Micro SDXC slot, a thin and reversible USB 3.1 Type-C port, an additional USB 3.1 Type-A port and Bluetooth 4.0.

Moving on to the Swift updates, Acer introduced the new 13.3-inch Swift 1 and 14-inch or 15.6-inch Swift 3. Both offer thin and light metal bodies, decent power and fingerprint sensors at a budget price. The more powerful of the two, the Swift 3 offers Intel’s 7th-generation Core processors, GeForce graphics, up to 512GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM. The Swift 1, on the other hand, packs Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, 4GB of RAM and up to 256GB of SSD storage. Both Swifts will be available in June starting at $599 for the Swift 3 or $329 for the Swift 1.

The Acer Switch 5 will be available in North America in June starting at $799 (roughly Rs. 51,300); in EMEA in June starting at EUR 1,099 (roughly Rs. 76,800); and in China in July starting at CNY 7,4999roughly Rs. 69,800). There’s also a Acer USB Type-C dock that can be purchased with the Switch 5, and it includes DisplayPort, HDMI, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports and three USB Type-A ports, as well as audio input for microphone and audio output for speakers.
